- Name- Mr. Krishna Dhuri
- Age- 38 years
- Profession- Vice President, Finance company
- Place - Mumbai
"I think I am from the very few candidates who have joined FFD for weight gain!!!" Myself, Mr. Krishna Dhuri, 38 years old, Vice President, Finance company, Mumbai.
I have a history of various ailments like Koch's spine (Spinal Tuberculosis) in 2007 for which I was on bed rest for a couple of months, issues with cervical spine in 2008, an autoimmune disease called Immune Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP) in 2009.
I was put on steroids to weaken my immunity and get my platelets in order. It worked for platelets but as a side effect it started shooting my blood sugars in the range of 200-300 and I was put on insulin.
My recent history of ailments has been in May 2019 where I was diagnosed as a full-blown diabetic with a peak Hb1AC of 10.6.
It was a shocker for someone like me who has been somewhat athletic with adventure activities like trekking/hiking / other adventure sports in a month or two. Earlier my weight was 60 kg which was perfect for my height of 165 cm.
For my sugars, I tried two meal diet of Dr. Jagannath Dixit and started to lose fat/weight. I religiously followed two meal diet and running every marathon I could. Hb1AC was reducing but in the process, I was losing too much weight. That time, I also decided to start weight training as well.
I came to know about FFD through a YouTube video and started incorporating smoothies in my way between 2 meals. Around February 20 when I was weighing 53 kg, I decided to join FFD with the intention to gain weight and maintain sugar levels.
Diabetes specialist Dr. Pramod sir's words ‘you are the boss of your freedom journey" really kicked me and I enrolled myself in the Diabetes Reversal Program i.e. Holistic Transformation Program Batch 55.
When I first spoke with Dr. Malhar, FFD exercise expert, he mentioned that I had a good physique and need to work on building muscles. In the first phase within 3 weeks, I experienced weight loss and reached 52 kgs with a BMI of 19.
FFD doctors and dieticians at that very stage advised me to have 5 to 6 meals a day along with Vit D and B12 supplements and continue strength training. I worked as per advice, incorporated multiple meals targeting a surplus calorie intake of 2300 calories per day.
All this started working for me and I succeeded in gaining around 3 kg of weight in around 2 months' time. Now my weight is 56 kg. I know that weight gain is more difficult than weight loss but I am on the right path.
Now my HbA1c is 6. My SAAF Goals are clearly to go down on Hb1AC to 5.6 and gain an ideal weight of 60 kg and that too gain weight in terms of muscles and not in terms of fat!
Thanks to Dr. Pramod, Dr. Malhar, and everyone who has inspired me to my journey so far. I will continue working towards my goal.
