My Diabetes Story

I was diagnosed with diabetes in December, an outcome I had somewhat expected due to my family history. My father was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 35, and knowing that genetic predisposition played a role, I was mentally prepared for the possibility of developing the condition himself.

When the diagnosis came, my HbA1c level was recorded at 7.6, marking the beginning of my journey with the condition. At the time of diagnosis, I started noticing signs of my body reacting differently to food, particularly sweets. Consuming sugary foods would leave me feeling uneasy, and I also observed a steady weight gain.

My weight had been fluctuating within the range of 98-99 kg, and I soon realized that this increasing weight was closely linked to my diabetes.

How was FFD introduced?

The turning point in my journey came when a close friend, who happened to be a doctor, introduced me to Freedom from Diabetes (FFD). The friend shared a video by Dr. Pramod Tripathi, the founder of FFD, Explaining how diabetes could be reversed through lifestyle modifications.

Intrigued and inspired by the concept, I decided to explore further. Rather than just following the program online, I took an extra step - I traveled to Pune to meet Dr. Pramod personally. That meeting convinced him that diabetes reversal was not just a possibility but a reality, and he made the firm decision to join the program.

I enrolled in the annual program HTP.

Reversal Story

Once I joined the Freedom from Diabetes program, I made significant lifestyle changes. Through a disciplined approach to diet and exercise, I was able to reduce his HbA1c from 7.6 to 6.2. My biggest achievement came in May 2024 when I successfully stopped all diabetes medications.

This was a major milestone, Reaffirming that my efforts and commitment were paying off.

My journey was not just about controlling blood sugar but also about regaining control over my body weight. Through dietary modifications and regular physical activity, I successfully lost 8.5 kg, bringing my weight down from around 99 kg to approximately 90 kg.

As a researcher, I spend most of my time in the laboratory, where movement is often limited. My professional environment does not naturally allow for much physical activity, making it necessary for me to consciously incorporate movement into my daily routine.

I ensure that I stay active by following a structured yet flexible fitness regimen.
Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, I dedicate time to cycling, an activity I enjoy and find effective in maintaining my fitness.

Additionally, I makes it a habit to walk after every meal, a simple yet powerful routine that aids digestion and helps manage blood sugar levels. Though I does not identify as a strong athlete, my consistent efforts to stay active have played a key role in my overall progress.

I will continue to work on these lines and now that I am in India can focus more on my goals.
