Why did I join FFD?

Introduction
Hello friends
I am Girish Paliwal, a 57 years young, Renewable Energy Engineer ( and Cost Accountant ) from Nagpur. I belong to a medical family.
My father was one of the senior-most surgeons in the Nagpur region, and my elder uncle practicing doctor. Medical history-wise, I do not have any of my parents suffering from diabetes.
How did I get to know I had diabetes?
I was diagnosed to have diabetes about four years back during a medical check-up with a high Hb1aC of 9.1. I was also very obese weighing just 1 kg shy of three digits, 99 kg.
Started with medicines and the sugar levels came down. During COVID, even regular exercise and running were almost stopped and diabetes management was mostly with medicines. Still remaining on the higher side, the weight came to about 95 kg.
Difficulties I faced
I was on medicine for hypertension since 2014, much before being diagnosed with diabetes. Sedentary work, extensive traveling, professional stress, and undesirable eating habits had done the damage.
I was on the heavier side of weight. Excess weight resulted in knee pain. Had partial blocks in two arteries, 40 percent and 50 percent, detected while performing angiography to confirm participation in the full marathon event.
How did I get to know about FFD?
At the beginning of April 2022, one of my relatives (god bless him ) recommended I join Freedom from Diabetes. Trusting him, and without getting into any details, I registered with FFD diabetes reversal program HTP.
This was one of the best decisions! which was reconfirmed after the first group video conference with Dr. Pramod Tripathi. I realized these people really know what they are asking us to do.
Being from a Doctor’s family I was more inclined to trust medical professionals with vast experience and confidence rather than some self-proclaimed weight management/health management non-medico experts.

My FFD journey
With a very well-designed plan and the guidance and support of the team at FFD, started with the journey, following almost all advice on food and exercises, adhering to 85 to 90 percent. Just followed what they asked me to do for the initial weeks.
The results as shown in readings in the Glucometer were surprising for me. One time, I remember having even asked my consulting doctor whether such a drastic reduction in my case is very unusual.
In about six weeks, the medicines ( diabetic ) were gradually reduced and stopped. The sugar levels were coming down to 6.5 without medicine. The weight reduced to 84 kg, an 11 kg reduction after starting FFD and 15 kg from the peak of 99 kg. The journey continues for me.
While following the program, there were other unexpected, positive changes noticed. The BP and resting heart rate also started to improve. I have been running half marathons and a couple of full marathons in recent years. With my partial blockage was running with monitoring and control on the heart rate, slowing down to walking when it goes up.
By August 2022, I could experience the change. The heart rate would go up after a long distance and at a higher pace as compared to earlier times. And more importantly, the recovery time to get the heart rate back was much lesser.
Achievement and impression
Was encouraged to take up a challenging journey and began preparing for it with specific guidance on the exercise of knees and breathing. On 19th September 2022, I took up climbing / walking on foot to Kedarnath temple.
For that day, this was more than 25 kilometers and elevation climbs of 2800 meters to the final Kedarnath height of 3600 meters ( just about similar height as Leh ) with oxygen getting lower as one goes up.
I successfully completed it, and my Garmin watch showed Calories burned as 8300. And then after completing the Pooja and Darshan, feeling blessed and enthusiastic, wanted to add to this journey to climb down the return on the next day 20th September, a total of 28 Km on that day and 5300 calories burned.
Of course, I was tired by the evening, however no serious pain or trouble or problem. Only pain and stiffness in leg muscles and remember Doctor Pramod once said that such pain is temporary, it went away in the next day or two.
The FFD program is not just confined to dealing with diabetes, it also helps in taking the participant to the next level of health. What next? another Full marathon before I turn young 60!
All the credit goes to the FFD program, team, and support.
